As video content has migrated from analog to digital format, the delivery mechanism, for both old and new formats, has changed as communication networks move toward a packet-based infrastructure. So, in addition to new digital compression streams entering the network-MPEG-2 and MPEG-4-there are new network protocols to implement and verify in order to guarantee the quality of service expected by video customers.
